Gender Reveal Inspiration
Boy, Girl, or shocking twist Twins! Gender reveals are a celebration enjoyed by expecting couples, their families and closest friends. For first time parents, grandparents or excited aunts and uncles the concept of a gender reveal can be confusing – especially with the added pressure of social media to make it perfect. Before the stress takes over and the fun is ruined, we want to help you plan something memorable and handcrafted especially for you.
What is a Gender Reveal?
The clue really is in the name with this one, this is a celebration for expecting parents and everyone close to them to find out the sex of the baby / babies. Couples can find out the gender of the baby during their mid pregnancy ultrasound, which is usually done between 16 and 20 weeks. Which means anytime after this a gender reveal party can take place. Whilst these celebrations were originally popular in American culture this exciting moment has become popular around the world thanks to pop culture and social media.
Gender Reveal Inspiration
The fundamentals of a gender reveal will ultimately stay the same regardless of how you announce it – something will either be pink or blue. How you want to go about it can be as simple or creative as you like.
A popular and fun way to get guests involved is to have them guess the gender. It could simply be writing it down or wearing the colour of the gender they are guessing. Depending on your budget you can buy accessories to help with this – or make some yourself.
Whilst many people want to have a party to celebrate there are some great simple and private ways to have a gender reveal so even if you would rather keep it simple there are some great ways to do so. Cupcakes with coloured filling delivered to those you most care about, or a mini box filled with coloured items are just some of the ways you could reveal the gender without needing to host a party.
Music is a must at all parties so why not create a playlist (or borrow one from Spotify) that’s perfect for the occasion. You can pick songs with the lyrics ‘baby’ or tease the gender with ‘boy’ and ‘girl’.
We created a gender reveal compilation video of some of our favourite celebrations and we’d love for you to check it out for some inspiration!

Gender Reveal Ideas
There are thousands of ways you could present a gender reveal so we’ve picked some of our personal favourites to give you ideas.
Balloon Popping: We love this idea and it’s quickly become one of the most popular ways to announce the gender. Filled with coloured confetti correlating to the gender a big black balloon can be hung up and popped by the expecting couple in front of family and friends and the perfect moment. the balloons can be brought online and put together by hand or you can find a local store that can do it for you. Just be sure you’ve got something hand to pop the balloon!
Piñata: Fun for the whole family a piñata is a great way to make the party fun and colourful! You can pick something with a baby-themed shape and get it filled with sweets and other goodies in the right colour. This adds suspense to the reveal since it can take a few whacks to split the piñata just right.
Cake: Everyone loves cake and when there is a celebration there is no better excuse to have cake. Whether its cream filling, secret colourful sponge, or a hidden pot of sprinkles there are several ways you can use cake to make a gender reveal special. Plus, you can keep the gender a secret from everyone by showing a baker the gender privately meaning no one else will know before the big reveal.
Photoshoot: Something a little different and creative can be fun way to get guests involved. Why not take photos of yourself and guests and then edit them with a coloured overlay that reveals the gender? You can then seal them up and asks guests to open them in sync to reveal the gender.
Top Tip: If you are not having a party this is another great way to get friends and family excited without the need for a big gathering.
Pass the parcel: This is another idea that involves all the guests. Pass the parcel is easily enjoyed by all ages and can be done cheaply! Simply wrap up a coloured item in the middle and use baby-themed wrapping paper around each layer. You can use the themed playlist you made earlier as music for the game.
Smoke cannons: We can’t deny the fact that we love this idea, especially since it can create such amazing photos and really does, quite literally, create an explosion of colour. This one might be a little trickery to clean up but all things consider we think this would be a fun way to reveal the gender! Either buy one cannon for the parents to be or a whole bunch for the guests and enjoy as your gender reveal becomes a cloud of blue or pink.
Fireworks: Another type of colourful explosion that would be perfect for night reveals or winter reveals when the evenings get darker earlier. Buying a few fireworks with a special one in the gender reveal colour and setting it off first, or last would create an extra special display that will be incredibly memorable. Fireworks can be dangerous so use responsibly!
Sports balls: Finally, this is an idea that we’ve been seeing a lot recently and we’ve got to say it’s definitely a fun way for sports fans to celebrate their reveals. From baseballs to golf balls these can be filled with colourful smoke that when hit explode to reveal the gender. Just be sure you swing in the right direction.
We hope this helps to give you some inspiration. Remember to be creative and have fun, finding out a babies gender is supposed to be an exciting time and is not something to stress over. Good luck with the rest of your Pregnancy x
