INSTA WORTHY BABY SHOWER...

Baby Shower events have soared in popularity over the last few years, they are a great way for friends and family to celebrate a mum-to-be. Events and parties celebrating the transition to motherhood have long been held in several cultures and religions and the more modern ‘Baby Showers’ are included in this. Now everyone seems to be doing them, it’s time to get creative with your party planning. If you're looking for instagrammable, cute & fun ideas, we have some tips to host a fabulous Baby Shower.

VENUE

Many Baby Showers are held at friends’ homes or the parents’ home, but you need not clear up your mess or stress out about having extra people in the house. Ideally, it shouldn’t be at the mum-to-be’s home as she’ll only end up cleaning, and if you’re planning a surprise, it’ll be difficult to pull off.

Instead, how about booking a private room in a restaurant or a community hall? A traditional village hall is easily decorated and can be hired cheaply, making the perfect blank canvas for the type of family parties held in the 80s and 90s. Think cheese and pineapple on sticks and party bags! Tea rooms are perfect for a lazy afternoon with tea and cakes and even a cocktail bar can work well for virgin cocktail making and enjoyment. In the summer, a picnic in the park is a lovely free venue – but be sure toilets are close by and there’s sufficient seating.

Once you've organised a venue for the baby shower, you will want to make the room look extra special for the mum to be and party guests. If you're feeling creative, we have some easy & cost effective ways to decorate a baby shower everyone will love! We've tried and tested the balloon garland ourselves and found the cheapest way to make it.

Games

Baby Shower games should be interactive and garner a laugh rather than just time-fillers. They vary heavily from the cute and innocent through to satirical and risqué, but know your audience and plan around them. Try out nappy changing on a doll blindfolded, pin the bow on the baby’s head and cut the string to guess the size of the new mum’s bump. A sweepstake on the baby’s date of birth, weight and height makes for a great game lasting even after the event, and if you don’t know the gender or name options, note those down too!

If your group is a little more adventurous than the traditional Baby Shower crowd, why not spice it up a little? Pin the sperm on the egg or try a nappy toss into the bin from a distance. A Lego block fire walk is ultimate challenge and tasting and guessing baby food flavours is always sure to get some laughs.

Gifts

The mother-to-be should leave with beautiful gifts, but ideally not multiples of the same thing. If there’s a gift list or group of guests to organise with, do this; but if not, opt for something more unusual. A keepsake box of the headlines and popular items from the year of birth can be made up by you bespoke for the baby and will be cherished for years to come. A white baby-grow with a set of fabric pens allow for all guests to leave a message for the little one. Of course, you can focus entirely on the mum – she needs indulgence too. A gift voucher for a beauty treatment or some pampering won’t go amiss… and probably neither would some non-alcoholic cocktails!

Baby Wishlist

Mums-to-be can create an Amazon Baby Wishlist, add baby items and share with family and friends looking to buy a gift for expectant parents. Mum can also receive a free welcome gift too!

We hope you have a fabulous time, whether you're creating your own baby shower or for a special friend. If you’ve organised a Baby Shower with a twist or have been to one a little bit different, get in touch and share your stories.
